New Roc Nation signee Hugo’s release “99 Problems” can only be described as a cross between something you’d expect out of Robert Plant and something you love from Jay-Z. Did we mention that Hugo’s label Roc Nation is helmed by none other than Jay-Z?
Never the less, “99 Problems” much like it’s seminal progenitor is a heavy hitting song, though this go-round it’s interpreted as a bluesy foray into the fusion of Hip Hop, Rock and Blues. A genre bending, hard hitting, banjo laden acoustic number that while having you tapping your foot and singing along may at first seem like novelty but upon subsequent re-listenings belies the promise of Hugo’s upcoming release; Old Tyme Religion.
