At this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans everyone’s eyes were either on the peculiar Nissan DeltaWing or the new rivalry between the Audi R18 e-tron Quattro and the Toyota TS030 hybrids…

The 80th time was the charm for environmentally friendly cars, as Audi’s R-18 e-Tron diesel-electric hybrid became the first car of its kind to win the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race. Click to Enlarge – 1920×1200

In the end Toyota gave Audi a great run for their money but a series of unfortunate accidents took them out of the race while luck shined on the Audi team allowing them to finish all four of their cars…a feat made all the more impressive given the number of accidents in this year’s race. Next year WILL definitely be an interesting rematch!
