The new No. 0 DeltaWing DWC13 coupe showed muscle in its first official ALMS session, with Andy Meyrick posting the fastest lap in Friday’s opening practice at Circuit of The Americas.
Meyrick ran a quick lap of 2:14.909 on the 20-turn, 3.4-mile circuit, running under cloudy and threatening conditions that gave way to rain in the final 10 minutes. Johannes van Overbeek was second overall and led the P2 class with a lap of 2:16.573 in the No. 02 Extreme Speed Motorsports Tequila Patron HPD ARX-03b. BMW Team RLL ran third and fourth overall and 1-2 in GT, with Bill Auberlen running 2:17.370 in the No. 55 Crown Plaza BMW M3, followed by Dirk Muller John Edwards in the No. 56 team car, 2:17.307.
Other class leaders were Renger van der Zande in Prototype Challenge presented by Continental Tire, 2:18.602, in the No. 81 DragonSpeed ORECA FLM09, and Sean Edwards in GTC, 2:23.996, in the No. 30 NGT Motorsport MOMO Porsche 911 GT3 Cup.
